Besides of producing the seedlings of important medicinal plants we have also some lab works as well. We had installed a distillation chamber by modifying a local raksi extractor. Raksi is one sort of local alcohol prepared from rice, maize, millet or other cereals. We tried to extract the essential oil of some aromatic plants found there. It worked but not efficiently. Then, next year we installed a new distillation chamber. It was also modified from the autoclave. Mr. Rajendra-the mechanical supervisor had modified it. Purchsing a distillation plant from the market was so expensive. This time it worked efficiently. We managed to extract essential oils of juniper berries, wormwoods (Artemisia spp.) and some other aromatic plants. Ms. Sulochana , head field assistant, is collecting the oils at the separating funnel.
